GRANTOWN

Photos by James Muir Page last updated: 2021-10-12

January 2006

This was a very dull day with my travels taking me from Fort William to Grantown-on-Spey, the area where the tv series Monarch of the Glen was recorded. The tower stands high on Laggan Hill to the west of the town. The day I was there the Cairngorm summits were white with snow and that night when staying in Grantown 8inches of snow fell.

In this picture we see the re-arranged FM Radio receive aerials. While the two band II Yagi's nearest the camera are unchanged, pointing towards Meldrum, there are now two band II Yagi's pointing towards Knock More and the Rosemarkie Yagi's have gone. This change was to permit the addition of Radio Nan Gaidheal.

From 25-Jul-2003:

The RBL source for Radio's 1 - 4 and R.Scotland were changed to Knock More.

Radio 4 transmit frequency changed from 104.2 to 96.1 MHz.

Radio Scotland frequency changed from 94.6 to 94.2 MHz. Reverting back to the original 1965 allocation.

Radio Nan Gaidheal added on 104.7 MHz. RBL source, Meldrum.
