Pictures taken March 2012 - Pictures of the mast

Visited the site on a fairly warm March afternoon, it was warmer up HM than down below in Holme valley.

New development is a reserve band II antenna which I understand are being installed at some sites to allow staff to work on the main band II antenna at the top and keep within strict ICNIRP power limits.

My 2011 pictures show there was a white panelled protected area which has since been removed and is now the location of the new reserve antenna which is located 1/3 up the mast in this picture.

I was once told the snake type wires around the top stay wires are to control air vortices.

New mast lights.

This plate is located under the national band II antenna on the mast and seems to be angled downwards to stop ice falling from above hitting various antenna below and force the falling ice away from the mast.

Another plate which has been extended.

Looking up the mast I noticed this green object under the DAB antenna. Circled.

More detailed picture below.

Small green tool bag. Strange antenna on the right.
