CLETTRAVAL

Photos by Anne and Nigel J. Coote Page last updated: 2021-07-06

DAB added - June 2012

This is the first site we visited on our holiday in June 2012 to Benbecula, North Uist and South Uist, Barra and Vatersay. One of the easiest sites to find as you could see it for about 15 miles but the Freeview reception was average, could only get 19 digital channels. FM and DAB was good as Clettraval transmitter is sited on the west of North Uist next door to RRH (Remote Radar Head) Benbecula, MoD early warning radar station. Most houses on these 5 islands in the Outer Hebrides get their TV via Sky satellite dishes seen on most houses, seen the occasional UHF aerial.

BBC National DAB was added on 27-May-2011.

There were 3 masts on this site, it looked as if the aerials and dishes on the middle mast had been on the left mast at sometime.
