SKRIAIG

Photos by Bill Wright Page last updated: 2015-11-18

Skriaig, on the picturesque Isle of Skye. It is usually listed as a TV relay of Eitshal but is actually fed via an SHF link from Melvaig.

UHF TV commenced with 3 channels on 10th November 1978. Channel 4 was added in August 1985. DSO was on the 14th and 28th July 2010.

A fourth FM radio channel, carrying the MF version of Radio Scotland, was added in 1980. Stereo conversion was on 1st December 1988. Radio's 1 & 4 were added on 29th February 1992. FM radio was re-engineered to mixed polarisation, September 1992.

This first shot was taken from near Portree, while the second was taken from Penifiler - line-of-sight - just!!

Bill says: "This one made me sweat! What a hike! But once there, what a view!"

This shot is excellent (but I've left the best one for the last...)
