THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY
PYE GREEN (BT)
Photos by Rob Shufflebotham | Page last updated: 2011-04-24 |
The Pye Green site provides DAB and ILR to an area of South Staffordshire. The site itself is one of those Cold War period BT Backbone towers which are quite eerie to just walk around, very reminiscent of a certain era. Fascinating to look around though. If anyone plans to go for a look themselves I'd advise going in winter as otherwise the bracken will be up and you won't be able to see much at all! Also present at the site are most of the mobile networks and the usual BT Link dishes. |
Site signage very much of its time! |

The tower itself. At the top you can just see the FM Tx for Signal 1 and the DAB stack for the two muxes present here. All DAB transmissions go through that stack, no antennas were visible anywhere else. |
Note the wire to the left of the tower here - any ideas what that would be for? |
Around the back there's no broadcast stuff to be seen. |
