| The site is near to a radar station which is part of the Uist rocket range though could also be integrated into the UK air defences. On the track on the way up the hill there is a small tower with a tilt-over mast alongside. I think this had MOULD and also was used for tracking missile launches using a camera system until the radar could lock on. There was a second tower West of the BBC tower which I think was Hydro, it seems to have been replaced by a newer tower now. |
