GLENGORM

Photos by Martin Briscoe Page last updated: 2023-04-08

1990s to 2003

There are three towers on the hill-top at Glengorm - BBC, Hydro and BT

The BT Microwave station is part of an old chain that goes all the way around the island of Mull. Originally there were some of the GPO VHF rhombic antenna at the rear of the site and they were built on the site of a WWII Admiralty WT station - the engine house can still be seen near the bottom of the track though it is now a private residence

The other side of the BBC site is a Hydro Electric site with various utilities on the site

The first group of photos are undated and taken from scanned slides or 35mm film. The N-prefix registration on the vehicle suggests at least some are from 1995 or soon after

A different vehicle - possibly K prefix - so probably earlier in the 1990s?

The next group of photos is from 2000

Torosay is midway between the two sites virtually in the direction of the track

A composite image from 2000

And another composite view from 2000, with the N-registered Land Rover still going strong!

Martin's final image is dated 2003
