| This is - in the absence of a technical diagram - a fairly complicated tangle of wires as viewed from the ground. I've tried to make sense of it by highlighting the wires for each photo in a secondary image in order to make the situation clearer. Certainly there's what appears to be an umbrella-shaped capacity hat, and it seems that two of the top stays are - at least for part of their length - energised. Like Shaun I'd say that the base of the mast is earthed, but there do appear to be some light-duty insulators on the stays. If anyone has the details of this installation it would be interesting to know the real design. |
| Throughout this page I've used the same colour code. Purple represents the feeders coming out of the Aerial Tuning Unit. Red is used to represent the capacity hat. Yellow lines show the anchoring system for the capacity hat, which at all joints is insulated from that anchoring system. Green represents the structural stays for the mast, two (out of three) of which would appear to be energised by the purple wires where they join the stays near the top of the mast. |
