TURNERS HILL

Photos by Mike Smith Page last updated: 2013-06-12

Earlier Photos

'Turners Hill 1' on the left and 'Turners Hill 2' on the right. The Beacon Radio aerials can be seen quite clearly on the left hand side, almost at the top of the right hand mast above.

DAB service dates: BBC, 13th July 1997; Digital One, 18th August 1999; CE Birmingham, 25th May 2000; Now Wolverhampton, 31st January 2001; MXR West Midlands, 9th August 2001. Closed 27th August 2013.

The panoramic view from the hill looking across West Bromwich shows two masts, the Sutton Coldfield mast is on the right, but the one on the left is further away and is the Arqiva Lichfield mast!!

Apparently Turners Hill is the result of volcanic activity and I have it on good authority that the Earth's
crust is thinner in that area, than anywhere else in the world! Not a lot of people know that.
