THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY

SNAEFELL

Photos by Martin Deeley Page last updated: 2013-09-10

Photos taken July 2013

These photographs were taken on July 21st, 2013.

When we reached the summit visibility was down to just a few metres; low cloud accompanied by strong winds created what can only be described as '100mph fog'. It's easy to see why this is one of the most challenging broadcast sites within the British Isles.

Within an hour of our arrival, the mist had cleared and although we weren't able to see all of the "seven kingdoms", England, Scotland and Man were visible!

The broadcast tower with a 'wobbly' antenna one-third of the way up that was clearly suffering from the constant battering.

Below: the "other" tower on the site.

Transport seems to have been provided.
