Newton was originally a BBC landlord site with BBC 2 entering service in December 1968. ITV was added on the 28th April 1972, BBC 1 in July 1972, with Channel 4 from September 1984. The UHF cylinder contains a south facing cardioid. DSO was on 12th and 26th September 2012.

BBC FM national radio was added on 13th May 1993. Metro FM (103.2 MHz) from 31st January 1996, Century FM (96.4 MHz) in 1996, Radio Newcastle (103.7 MHz) from the late 1990's, Galaxy 105 - 106 (105.8 MHz)from 24th May 2001 and Real Radio (101.2 MHz) from 14th October 2010.

OFCOM data gives Capital and Metro transmitted from the Sira at 29m and Real and Smooth from the slant yagis at 25m on the right of this picture. Also on the left the receive aerials can be seen, pointing at Pontop Pike / Burnhope.
