Mynydd Eglwysilan is a prime radio site dominated by three towers in two separate compounds. The two taller towers are non-commercial in nature, but even so O2 have a presence on one of them. The third, shorter tower was originally owned by the gas board, and still retains its links as the Gridcom ID plate shows.
[note: A 2m amateur repeater at this location easily reaches to the Isle of Wight, so it will be interesting to see how far the DAB signals reach]
Access to the site is via unmade byways, the condition of which is made worse by erosion and trials bikes. As far as I am aware, there is no intention to repair the surface due to ongoing problems with the bikes, joyriders, and tipping. |
