December 2003

Cambret Hill was originally an IBA landlord site which entered service on 4-Feb-1977 to serve 19,000 people. Channel 4 was added in March 1984 with Channel 5 available from the 30-Mar-1997 launch. DSO was on
24-Jun and 22-Jul-2009.

Although Cambret Hill is listed as a relay of Caldbeck, TV transmissions are horizontally polarised. Cambret Hill was scheduled as the Kirkcudbrightshire main station in the ST61 UHF plan with site number 143 at 100 kW ERP.

BBC FM radio entered service in November 1980 on 88.7 / 90.9 / 93.1. Radio's 1 and 4 were added on
26-Aug-1993 on 98.3 & 95.3 respectively. Re-engineering for mixed polarisation was completed in April 1995. ILR (South West Sound) was added on 3-Dec-1996.

The wrap around panels transmitted Channel 5. Just below the platform are the BBC FM radio transmit panels at the 50m level. They face east and northwest. Low down on the left is the ILR aerial. The Sira type antenna facing west.
