THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY

NORWICH (MARKHAM TOWER)

Photos by Sean Cooper and Rob Shufflebotham Page last updated: 2014-02-21

20th August 2012 - New Antenna & Frequency; and a further update in September 2013

Sean writes:

"I was going through my photos and noticed I hadn't yet posted these on the gallery.

This is the Markham Tower site in Norwich, which is used by community radio station 'Future Radio'. These photos were taken just over 2 years and after Ofcom amended the licence (frequency change 96.9 -> 107.8 MHz and antenna pattern change) and show the new omni-directional antenna system.

I also note a new dipole has be added close to the Band I STL yagi antenna, although I have no idea what it is used for; maybe a reserve antenna?"

The first three photos are from Sean, the rest come from Rob.

(Top to bottom) 107.8 vertical component, 107.8 horizontal component, feed splitter (just under bottom stays), new vertical dipole antenna and Band I STL yagi antenna.

A closer view of the feed splitter, new vertical dipole antenna and Band I STL (studio-to-transmitter link) yagi antenna.
