THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY
PENICUIK
Photos by Dan Glover | Page last updated: 2014-08-25 |
Lack of an obvious access route and shortage of time mean these photos are taken from the roads to the south and west of the site |
As before, BBC radio is from the dipole at the top of the left hand tower, everything else is from the original tower on the right |
All known broadcast transmit antennas are shown in this view. BBC radio is VP only but there are two mixed polarisation arrays on the other tower. The DAB antennas are just visible at the base of the UHF cylinder |
Ofcom shows both ILR services at 40m AGL but the detailed ERP data has differences. It appears the upper array - crossed dipoles and reflectors - is used by Heart (previously Real Radio). The slant-polarised yagi lower down is for Forth 1 |
Near to the base of the left-hand tower there are pairs of Band II yagis on both sides... |
...these are the BBC programme feed: we understand R4 and RnG are received from Forfar, with the other services from Black Hill |
Looking at the site from the west, still two troughs to receive Craigkelly and a Band II yagi possibly used to feed the ILR services on the left hand tower The upper of the pairs of yagis can be seen to the left/right of the BBC radio tower |
An unobstructed, albeit slightly fuzzy, view of the DAB antennas The upper ILR antenna merges into the platform behind |
