THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY
ARDINTOUL
Photos by Martin Briscoe | Page last updated: 2014-08-31 |
Ardintoul is inside the original security fence of the WWII Royal Navy fuel depot. There were tanks presumably for fuel oil, with bunds around them. The area appears to be now used by the nearby fish farm for storage / dumping things. There was a terrible smell of rotting fish which nearly made me physically sick at one point. The nearby 18th Century Ardintoul House was destroyed by fire in 2012. There was a talcum mine on the hillside behind. The most visible change from the earlier pictures is the addition of a satellite dish for telemetry. |
