Transmissions from this site Are highly directional to avoid interference to stations in France. FM radio services for the area are from the former NGW site at Swingate. Originally built to bring 405-line ITV to east Kent and East Sussex, Southern ITV went into service on 31st January 1960 on VHF channel 10. Closed 1984. BBC 2 was added on 11th February 1967, UHF ITV from 13th December 1969, BBC 1 from 3rd January 1970, with Channel 4 available from the launch on 2nd November 1982. DSO was on 13th June and 27th June 2012. ILR east Kent (Invicta Radio) launched on 1st October 1984. Classic FM was added on 8th November 1993. DAB service dates: Digital One, 6th April 2001; BBC, 19th August 2003.
