The Storeton Transmitter is located on top of Storeton Hill in a wood, above the town of Bebington, Wirral. The Transmitter is a relay of Winter Hill for Liverpool across the Mersey from the Wirral Peninsula.

I use to live a lot closer to the mast than I do now (only about half a mile) I never needed an aerial - I got perfect reception with nothing attached to my TV!

Originally a BBC landlord site, TV channels 1 - 3 entered service in September 1979. At first this may seem surprisingly late for what is the ninth largest UHF relay by population served, and serving a large city, until it is appreciated that Liverpool was already served by the UHF transmissions from Moel-y-Parc, albeit with Welsh programming. Therefore as the main purpose of Storeton was to bring the correct national programming to Liverpool, I assume the site wasn't considered a priority.

Channel 4 was added in July 1983 and Channel 5 was available from the launch on 30th March 1997.

BBC and Independent local radio for Liverpool are transmitted from Allerton Park, however a transmitter for a local radio station for the Wirral (Buzz radio 97.1 MHz), was added to Storeton in 1999.

The screen at the back of the Digital Array (the shrouded log periodics on the right), blocks the Digital signal to the Heswall and Neston directions where it is possible to receive strong signal from The Wrekin (although they receive the wrong region) this is also the probable reason for the screen.
