NORTH HESSARY TOR

Photos by Martin Watkins Page last updated: 2011-04-18

DAB aerials - November 2010

New DAB aerials installed at 144 m agl, firing roughly westwards.

Photos taken November 2010.

New DAB array below platform, LHS.

The new DAB aerials look pretty sturdy, probably just as well as NHT is a site with fairly violent weather!

This also shows the Wenvoe RBS Yagis (immediately above our heads). When first set up in the 1950s an RBL from Wenvoe was used for Light and Third (with Home being line fed). For a while in the 1990s it is thought that Rowridge was used for preference as RBS, but with the arrival of National Radio at Plympton using Rowridge's frequencies the circle has fully turned and Wenvoe is the RBS.

All that's left of the DRM experiment on 855 kHz.
