Great Barton was built by the IBA for ILR Bury St. Edmunds which launched on 6-Nov-1982 as Saxon Radio on both 96.3 MHz and 1251 kHz. The FM frequency was changed to 96.4 MHz on 1-Nov-1985. Radio Suffolk launched on 12-Apr-1990 on 104.6 MHz. The mast acts as MF monopole with directional properties created by the sloping wire reflector. A little reminiscent of Blunsdon.
