THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY

BRIGHTON (WHITEHAWK HILL)

Photos by Martin Brown Page last updated: 2017-05-01

Local TV. September 2015

For the Brighton local TV service, the six shrouded UHF log periodics that used to transmit pre-DSO Mux 2 have been re-used, but have been re-aligned.

The local TV transmit aerial. The group of four logs are pointing at 290 deg, while the other two point at 5 deg, east of true north.

To the right, the former Channel 5 cardioid is still in place.

Note the additional section added to the top the UHF cylinder. This is a damper installed in July 2013 to reduce vibration and noise.

No change to the interleaved band II FM radio and band III DAB aerials.

The two band II log periodics, on the left receiving BBC FM radio from Wrotham, and the lower UHF trough aerial pointing towards Rowridge.

This diagram is from an OFCOM document and shows the predicted local
TV radiation pattern from the aerials shown above. The red outline.
The blue outline is the permitted radiation pattern.
