THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY

LOWESTOFT UHF

Photos by Martin Brown Page last updated: 2017-08-29

Two more aerial changes - September 2015 & July 2017

The transmit aerial was changed back to a shrouded cardioid in September 2015. The first three pictures were taken on a rather grey October afternoon in 2015. The building has also had a major refurbishment by then.

Since then, the aerial has been changed yet again in July 2017 in preparation for 700 MHz band clearance. This is now the fourth transmit aerial in six years to occupy this rooftop, however the difference in appearance is very subtle.

Your photographer was also a student here from 1974 - 1976.

It also looks like most of the top half of the pole has also
been replaced, judging by the difference in the colour of
the metal above the join.

Left, October 2015. Right, August 2017.
Apart from the obvious difference in the weather, only the shape and position of the letter 'F' on the front seems to change.

At the base of the aerials, a more obvious change is that the feeder cable no longer has a join in it and is dressed tidier.
