| Much of the North Wales coast is covered by Moel-y-Parc or Llanddona bar a few coastal spots in the east who are too low down and receive Winter Hill. The north-south hills that make up the Vale of Conwy block Llanddona to the west and Moel-y-Parc to the east, not to mention the Penmaen Rhos relay which covers Colwyn Bay itself. Much of the valley is covered by the large Conwy relay which can easily be seen in front of you as you head out of Colwyn on the A55 heading towards Bangor. One transmitter you probably won't spot (on the hill to the east of the dual carriageway) is the 2W Mochdre transmitter, a small group A infill rebroadcasting Conwy's own relay which appears to serve a thin strip of valley to the northwest by the side Bryn Euryn Fort. For the houses here coverage of Conwy is impossible because of the hillside below Bryn Pydew (to the left on the final picture). Originally a BBC landlord site, Mochdre entered service on 2nd July 1985. DSO was on 21st October and 18th November 2009. |
