ASHBOURNE UHF

Photos by Alan Price Page last updated: 2016-08-29

Ashbourne in the sunshine - August 2016

Site number is '140066'.

The tower now looks quite bare compared to the past photos.

The feed to Ashbourne looks like it is all Waltham, I couldn't spot anything pointing to Sutton Coldfield. Does anybody know why there is a seperate log to the four toed-in logs? Was this the one pointing to Sutton C, but 'turned around' to Waltham?

[Ed] Unlikely. The vintage of this site (1975), would suggest that the SC receive aerial would have been a trough. I suspect that the single log was the original Waltham Rx aerial, which has subsequently been upgraded to the 4 toed-in logs.

The BBC DAB feed comes via the white dish.

I think the DAB transmitter is in the grey cabin. It looks new enough and has the GPS cones. I'm guessing the GPS cones are mounted on the brick building due to the trees blocking the signal?
