THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY

LLANGOLLEN (PENNANT FARM)

Photos by Alan Price Page last updated: 2016-09-06

August 2016

Alan is the second mb21 contributor to visit this site and admire the view and and comments:

"This site must reinforce coverage in the Vale of Llangollen from many of transmitters receivable in this area, including Winter Hill, The Wrekin, Wrexham-Rhos, Alsagers Bank and Llangollen VHF.

As with some sites, the most interesting thing is not the site itself, but the things around it."

The antennas point towards Cefn Mawr.

Programme feed (left) and telemetry (right) dishes. The end-fed antenna on the right and vertically polarised yagi are not broadcast-related

These were just down the road... old Home Office/ police towers? (Editor's note: yes, site apparently known as Craig-y-Dduallt)

The town of Llangollen. I've highlighted Llangollen VHF. The hills in the foreground must block some of the signal going into the Vale of Llangollen, creating the need for this site.

Llangollen VHF about 11 miles away.

Pontcysyllte Aqueduct.

The view over the North West. This picture doesn't do justice the amazing views from this site!
