THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY
TICK HILL
Photos by Alan Price | Page last updated: 2016-09-19 |
Tick Hill is east of Stoke-on-Trent, on the foothills of the Peak District. It serves the eastern part of Stoke, as well as parts of the Staffordshire Moorlands, including the town of Cheadle. Along with Alsagers Bank, it was one of the launch transmitters for the Stoke & Stafford DAB Multiplex at 20th April 2004. BBC national DAB was added on 18th February 2015. The remaining traces of the PCM link have been removed since the site was last visited. |
The DAB array has been replaced and the large dish facing Sutton Coldfield for the PCM link removed. |
The DAB antennas point westwards towards Stoke-on-Trent. |
These photos were taken from the north. Zooming in on the originals, I suspect the dish on the left points towards Sutton Coldfield (in the direction of the old Andrews dish) for the BBC DAB feed, the one on the top right at Alsagers Bank (or the BBC building in Hanley?), and the one on the bottom right at Sutton Common. If anyone can prove me wrong on this, please do. |
