THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY

HOO ST. WERBURGH MF

Photos by David Neale Page last updated: 2022-06-22

2004

There are no fewer than three transmitting stations on what the locals know as the Grain Peninsular at Hoo on the Medway estuary, two AM sites and an FM site. This AM site was built by the IBA for the Maidstone and Medway ILR service which launched on 1-Oct-1984 as Invicta Radio.

This mast has a sloping wire reflector directing maximum signal to the south towards the intended service area.

One interesting thing on this site is the wartime pill box in the car park area. Unfortunately it was a little bit too overgrown to have a look.
