THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY

BOARS HILL

Photos by Martin Brown Page last updated: 2017-01-19

DAB added - January 2017

There are three towers at Boars Hill. The band II Tx aerials are on the most northwesterly tower. The DAB aerials are on the most easterly. There are two sets of band III aerials on this tower. When the Oxfordshire DAB multiplex launched in December 2013, a temporary, 5 element Yagi at 30m was used for Tx. When the BBC national multiplex was added in July 2014, both multiplexes were then transmitted from the two dipoles at the top of the tower.

The DAB aerials are on the left tower. The right tower has no broadcast aerials.

Two band III dipoles at the top and the temporary, 5 element band III Yagi on the right, lower down. This aerial is pointing roughly southwest. Away from Oxford.

The tower with the band II transmit aerials is unchanged.
