THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY
CWMFELINFACH
Photos by Ben Smith | Page last updated: 2023-03-29 |
The Cwmfelinfach TX is a small tower on the North-Eastern face of Coed-y-Bont in the Sirhowey Valley. It's pretty much tree-locked in a forestry commission area that happily has a plethora of footpaths criss-crossing it just above an activity centre called Ynys Hywel. Originally an IBA landlord site, Cwmfelinfach entered service in September 1980, with S4C available from the November 1982 launch. |
The transmitting aerials are two pairs of VP crossed log-periodics pointing roughly North and East, up and down the valley. |
The VP RX log is pointing eastward, through the only break in the surrounding trees, towards the parent station just out of sight beyond the summit of the mountain of the same name - Mynydd Machen - itself a relay of Wenvoe. |
