ACKLAM WOLD

Updated photos

Mike has visited this site more recently and reports that it has been extended somewhat, there being various new transmitter cabinets and buildings.

The original purpose of the station was to bring BBC Local Radio to North Yorkshire, other services have since been added, and it can be seen that the ILR service has been provided using twin Sira mixed polarized antennas, rather than using the stacked pair of verticals used for BBC North Yorkshire. There are fantastic views from the site, and radio reception is amazing there too!!
