THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY
FISHPOND HILL
Photos by Richard Maycock | Page last updated: 2017-09-22 |
Fishpond Hill was originally built by the BBC to extend coverage of Radio Nottingham to the Mansfield area of Nottinghamshire, entering service on the 14th February 1989. ILR (Trent FM) was added in the mid 1990's and Mansfield 103.2 launched on the 1st February 1999. |
Two tiers of Alan Dick & Co circularly polarised band II panels transmit Radio Nottingham. The vertical band II dipole at the top of the tower transmits both of the ILR services. |
RM: You will see there are two horizontal, 4 element, band II Yagis near the base of the tower. One points towards Mapperley Ridge direction and forms part of a stand-by feed (RBS). Radio Nottingham is line fed, as it carries different opt-outs at times. The other points towards Holme Moss and is presumably used to receive RDS data. |
