DURSLEY UHF

Photos by Robert Whittaker Page last updated: 2023-03-31

2005 & 2010

Dursley UHF was originally an IBA landlord site which entered service in February 1980 to serve a population of about 1100 people. Channel 4 was added on 9-May-1986 and the BBC National DAB mux entered service on
1-Dec-2009.

Robert first visited the Dursley site in August 2005...

Below: May 2010: Updated shots of Dursley UHF featuring new BBC DAB antennas. Someone's had a major clearout on this tower, removing all of the VHF yagis since I was last here 5 years ago. I count 11 removed in total. Most of the microwave link dishes have changed as well, including the big two at the top in the old photos.

DSO has happened at this site but it looks like both the tx and rx antennas are unchanged. A nice new telemetry dish has appeared on the south leg of the tower.

Despite being a relatively sunny day, frustratingly the sun refused to shine on the tower while I was there, despite waiting around for an age, so the contrast isn't great unfortunately.
