THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY
BRIGHTON (WHITEHAWK HILL)
Photos by Martin Brown | Page last updated: 2017-10-28 |
Martin visited Brighton (Whitehawk Hill) two and a half weeks after the UHF cylinder was replaced. This was on the afternoon that the skies turned orange in much of England and Wales as a consequence of ex-hurricane Ophelia passing over Ireland. Some colour correction has been applied to the pictures to remove the orange tint. |
Left is how it looked in September 2015, right is October 2017. Note that the Channel 5 aerial has now gone and two log periodics have been added on the right, and point southeast. These transmit the three PSB multiplexes on separate channels to fill a null on the new main cylinder's radiation pattern. |
Round to the southeast facing side of the tower, and a new panel aerial has been added. It is facing Newhaven to provide an RBS feed. Newhaven is line fed these days. |
The new null fill transmit aerials. |
Under the handwritten "VIRTUA" label it reads "People, Passion, Performance" |
