Norden is a relay of Winter Hill, sending UHF television into the lower areas of Norden, which lies 3 miles west of Rochdale. I lived in Norden from 1981 to January 1986, less than half a mile from this site, though the relay did not come on air until in August 1986, after I had left. The photos were taken in July 1996 on a holiday visit.
The original analogue channel allocation was 34/67/30/57. BBC 2 was changed to ch37 on the 26th September 2000 as a consequence of the DTT changes at Winter Hill. Only two other sites used UHF channel 37 for a non Channel 5 service. Middleton and Luccombe. Both for Channel 4.
