BBC National DAB was added to Stocksbridge in May 2014. Has anything else changed since Bill's visit? Photos from about 250 m east of site: due to recent snow there didn't seem to be a safe place to park close to the access track. |
One structure seems to have gone, the BT tower has lost the large dishes and we can just see the DAB antennas. |
Ofcom data shows maximum ERP for DAB to the north west (bearing 320) with a 6 dB reduction towards the south east. The broadcast tower has other additions: a telemetry dish near the bottom and some sort of vertical about half way up. No sign of any DAB feed so this is assumed to be a ground-mounted dish. The tower to the leftappears to have been completely cleared. |
Two dipoles of the usual (Kathrein) type. We understand the offset from the pole broadens the radiation pattern. |
The UHF receive antenna isn't visible in the photos above (it's a single log "behind the tower"). No need for anything elaborate, considering... |
