THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY
SNAEFELL
| Photos by James Muir | Page last updated: 2018-05-14 |
Whilst on holiday on the Isle of Man I took advantage of the glorious weather on Sunday, 6 May 2018 to get some pictures of the Snaefell Tx.

General view of the broadcast tower from the trig point at the summit of Snaefell. Looking South towards the mountain railway summit station.

A closer look at the broadcast tower. Looking in a South-Westerly direction.

A close-up of the mixed polarisation transmit panels used by Manx FM. Interesting that there is no panel on the south-facing side of the tower. I know from personal experience that the Manx FM transmissions from this site cover an enormous area, having heard them clearly over 60+ miles away in southern Scotland.

Sira transmit aerial for Energy FM on the LHS of the photo.

A view of the square aerial that is used to receive the Energy FM programme feed from Douglas.

Looking North this time, with the broadcast tower in the foreground and the tower for the National Air Traffic Services (NATS) Tx / Rx receive station in the background.

One of the beautiful vintage trams at the mountain railway summit station.
