This self-help relay served only 15 households (according to Ofcom data). I'd say this was correct as I couldn't count more than 12 from the Tx site itself. There appears to be two receive antenna, one a grid, and the other an Antiference XG series. Whether one has been replaced by the other, or whether both are in use, I have no idea. The receive sites are some considerable distance from the transposer cabinet. I would estimate that the further receive site is nearly ½ mile away. The whole installation is very professional, and the transposer cabinet has some sort of cooling fan, as it could be heard from outside (probably for the PSU). This must have cost a fortune to set up, considering the small number of users! However, due to the fact that there is a very popular Outdoor Education Centre in the immediate vicinity, I would not be suprised if some financial assistance was granted by the then Clwyd County Council. The area now comes under Conwy County Borough Council. |
