THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY

OULTON (LOWESTOFT)

Photos by Martin Brown Page last updated: 2018-11-11

November 2018

No new transmit aerials to see, but missing from the earlier pictures were the DAB satellite receive dish and the band II Tacolneston receive aerial.

At the top on the left are the ILR band II transmit aerial and on the right the DAB transmit aerials. On the right below the DAB aerials are the panel aerials used to transmit Radio Suffolk.

Lower down this picture, the small SHF antenna on the left is probably pointing towards the Gt. Yarmouth (Sefton Lane) transmitter site and is likely to be providing the Norfolk DAB programme feed.

Two Alan Dick & Co. band II, vertical panel aerials used to transmit Radio Suffolk. I estimate they face about 300° and 210° and provide a convenient perch for the starlings.

Two west facing band III dipoles for DAB transmit.

The band II aerials used to transmit ILR. These are slant polarised, although for this angle they appear horizontal. The 4 element Yagi is point roughly north towards Gt. Yarmouth.

Lower down the tower is this 3 element band II Yagi pointing towards Tacolneston. Most likely used to receive network RDS data for R.Suffolk.

Satellite receive dish providing the ETI programme feed for the two national DAB multiplexes.

A rather faded legacy NTL sign on the cabin.
