THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY
BOSCASTLE
Photos by Mervyn Mugford | Page last updated: 2018-11-24 |
On a previous visit to Boscastle, from just down in the village, the broadside yagi array was clearly visible. My original thought was that a high gain array was being used for direct reception of Redruth. So on a later day, returned and armed with Mike's helpful hints on parking in Forrabury. Being late November with few tourists, found a convenient space in the lane below the church. However vertical polarisation confirmed that Bossiney is still the feed station. Forrabury church provides welcome DIY tea and coffee making facilities so my companion was happy to sit with a cup of tea and read the Armistice display while I trekked across the field. |
More cellphone kit since Mike visited though the Airband open folded dipoles no longer here. |
One of the most obvious changes is the receiving arrangements, four vertically spaced logs replaced with this yagi broadside array. |
There is also a telemetry uplink dish, probably added since DSO |
Transmit logs at the top of the tower seem to be unchanged. |
Visible in the distance from the Boscastle site, the satellite dishes at GCHQ Morwenstow. |
Forrabury church is worth a visit and was my base before walking across the field. DIY tea and coffee making facilities are provided. |
