THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY

STOW

Photos by James Furness Page last updated: 2023-08-17

This one's a pretty simple affair. The mast is located just to the east of the summit of Stagehall Hill, overlooking the village, which itself lies to the east. The transmit aerial is a set of four vertical bow-ties pointing approximately ENE, covering Stow and Killochyett. The receive aerial is a single log, about ¼ way down the mast, pointing SSW towards Selkirk.

These pictures were all taken from a spot on the A7 near Stow Bridge, the last pic showing this "Bridge to Heaven" with the tx in the background.

Stow was originally an IBA landlord site which entered service on 17-Jul-1981 to serve 550 people.
Channel 4 was added on 7-Aug-1987.
