DAB added - May 2019

BBC national DAB was added on 9th November 2009. Tyne & Wear local DAB from 26th April 2016.

Also since the earlier pictures were taken, the UHF receive aerial has been replaced. This is in preparation for the channel changes at Pontop Pike for 700 MHz clearance which is scheduled for the autumn of 2019.






Two band III dipoles have been added on a cantilever pole at the top of the tower for DAB transmit.


The new Sira UHF receive panel aerial replaces the original trough aerial.


Satellite receive dish providing the programme feed for BBC National DAB. The Tyne & Wear local DAB programme feed is via an SHF link.
