GIGHA ISLAND

Receive aerial changes - May 2019

A lovely afternoon on Gigha Island wouldn't be complete without visiting the TV mast. Unfortunately, the sun wasn't in the best place for clear photos.

[Ed] Stanley's pictures reveal receive aerial changes at Gigha Island for 700 MHz band clearance. A panel aerial and another group of 8 Yagis have been added lower down the tower. Note these new Yagis are horizontally polarised, whereas the upper Yagis are vertically polarised. It seems likely that the beam transmitted by South Knapdale towards Gigha Island is being changed to horizontal polarisation.
