MAPPERLEY RIDGE

Photos by Neil White Page last updated: 2020-04-15

May 2018

Mapperley is one of the highest points in Nottingham. Over the years there have been a number of communication masts erected on the ridge and this site perhaps one of the best. Situated in the corner of a school, it commands a great position, as the land to the south falls away sharply towards the river Trent, and slowly falls away in all other directions. A security guard on duty was happy for me to be there on the public land taking photos, and was interested to hear what the tower used for. The school was closed and he was there letting workmen in.

This interleaved band II and band III aerial system transmits all FM and DAB radio services.

Band II aerial pointing towards Sutton Coldfield.

GPS cones.

A very large equipment building is provided.
