PENNORTH

New receive aerials - March 2020

Since last summer there have been some changes to Pennorth. I'm not sure exactly when but a additional set of log periodic antennas have appeared pointing towards Brecon. This is because of the UHF channel changes at Brecon for 700 MHz band clearance. (B700).

Also noted the old Orange Mobile antennas and feeder cables have been removed from the top of the mast down to the redundant equipment cabinet at the base.

An additional set of log periodic antennas have been installed above the original set facing Brecon UHF. Note the wider spacing between the new upper set of antennas. This is because, post B700 clearance, Brecon now transmits on lower UHF channels, which have a longer wavelength.

The unused Orange Mobile antennas have also been removed from the top of the tower.

During the December 2019 storms I spotted some sort of metal flap had appeared on the very top of the antenna cover, This was reported to Arqiva and a few days later it had gone.
