GLENIFFER BRAES

Photos by Dave Stanley Page last updated: 2021-05-28

QFM Installation in August 1992

QFM were given a license to cover Paisley, west of Glasgow. The frequency of 96.3MHz was licensed for 200W per plane from what we called Sergeant Law. The tower is a 60m Balfour Beatty square type.

Looking up what must be the eastern face, the AEA antenna is at the top.

The site is well located for coverage of Glasgow. In common with Blackpool, the AEA antenna is installed incorrectly with its elements vertical/horizontal because of limited data from the manufacturer (in Singapore).

The view from the top looking south-west.

Looking down from the antenna position, the Radio Authorities survey vehicle is there and the transmitter building with its door open.
