WANLOCKHEAD
Photos by Jack Richardson | Page last updated: 2021-08-22 |
Walked past here on the way to a walk up Lowther Hill. Wanlockhead is the highest village in Scotland, at an altitude of 467 metres, and home to a lead mining museum. I can also recommend driving the Mennock Pass from Mennock to Abington. Very scenic. |
The only obvious change since the earlier pictures were taken is the addition of a VSat dish for telemetry. |
The use of 4 yagis suggests difficulty in getting a good signal from Darvel. Parked in the village, I noticed that FM radio from Black Hill chucked in a decent signal on the nationals and the likes of Clyde. You can also see the masts while coming down Lowther Hill. I wonder what the signal from Black Hill would have been like here? |
Part of Wanlockhead and the view as seen by the yagis towards Darvel 24 miles away. |
