New ILR aerial - August 2022

A second ILR service on 107.1 MHz (Nation Radio), has been added at Presely. Ofcom data indicated a separate aerial system is used to transmit this service, so a visit to Presely was called for.

From the top down. Main UHF transmit. Wrap around reserve UHF transmit. All DAB.

The 5 sided main UHF transmit aerial

Wrap around reserve UHF transmit

DAB transmit. This appears to have panels on three side only. Ofcom data indicates a 26dB ERP reduction at
310 degrees.

Classic FM and the 105.7 MHz ILR service (Heart FM). No sign of the new ILR aerial from this direction (northeast), which should be just below.

Having found a accessible location offering a view of the south side of the mast, the new ILR aerials are visible. Unfortunately this location was about 1 km away, hence the poor picture quality. Two Sira type aerials (lower left), which according to Ofcom data are pointing 230 degrees.

I think that these two band II Yagis are pointing towards Carmel and may be providing a RBL programme feed for both ILR services (Heart FM and Nation Radio).
