Came up here to get some updated photos for the gallery, and for the views around the area. I didn’t set off till fairly late, about 2pm. There's no parking on the closest road, so I parked at Kilchuimen Cemetery just outside Fort Augustus and started from there. Walked through fields before reaching the road. From there I followed the path into a forest leading to Culachy Falls (also known as Lady Falls). From here I got a bit lost, walking up a track, then following a fence through bracken up the side of Creag Dhubh, starting to doubt I'd reach the site before sunset, before coming onto the Old Military Road track and following this. I then walked up the side of Meall a' Cholumain (the hill the site sits on). It was only when I reached the top that I noticed my D808 had fallen out my pocket. Oh well…
Coming back was much simpler, I followed the track back to the B road, just further down than from where I started. I am glad I ended up going the long way, it allowed me to take those scenic shots and the sunset shots. |
