New UHF receive aerial - June 2023

The UHF log periodic antennas which received Heathfield have been replaced with a panel antenna. This change will be as a consequence of 700 MHz clearance changes at the parent site. Otherwise, there has not been many changes at Wye since the last photos from 2009.

Access to the Wye site is easy since a public footpath runs through the middle of it. Mother nature continues to reclaim the compound.

No entry unless you take the public path just a few metres to the right!

The four UHF dipoles are not so clear because of the angle of the photo, but the DAB dipoles and FM antennas are visible.

This Jaybeam, four element band II Yagi is directed at Dunkirk to receive the 102.8MHz transmission. Wye was originally line fed in the Invictasound/Invicta Radio days. It was changed to rebroadcast some time in the late 1990's.

Looking up at the FM system. At the time it was re-engineered in the late 1990's it was the most complex antenna system that NTL had modelled. Restrictions from France in this part of the country can make antenna systems complicated.

In the past someone would have cared enough to cut the vegetation back.
