THE TRANSMISSION GALLERY
BRIGHTON RACE COURSE
Photos by Martin Brown | Page last updated: 2023-07-22 |
When Michael Bryan visited Brighton Race Course in 2008 the only service being transmitted from here was Radio Reverb on 97.2 MHz from a pair of slanted band II dipoles on a stayed mast on the southern end of the main stadium. There are now three services from this site. Ofcom data indicates that Radio Reverb now transmits with vertical polarisation, omni directional only, as does 1BTN (101.4 MHz). Gaydio (97.8 MHz) transmits with both horizontal and vertical polarisation. So it seems likely that there are probably two separate band II aerial systems at Brighton Race Course. |
Rather a lot of aerials here. Note that the top of Whitehawk Hill can be seen on the right of this picture. |
This is the stayed mast seen in Michael Bryan's 2008 pictures. The two slanted dipoles have been replaced with an end fed dipole. This probably transmits both Radio Reverb (97.2) and 1BTN (101.4). |
The likely candidate for the other band II aerial system is on the right of this picture. |
An end fed dipole and horizontal two element Yagi for Gaydio (97.8). |
Whitehawk Hill about 500m away. |
